R.I.P - Carmen Rocha, Los Angeles Nachos Queen

Carmen Rocha began working at El Cholo in 1959 and is lauded as the person that popularized nachos in Los Angeles. She was 77. Carmen's nachos play a roll in the history of El Cholo - don't forget to check out the staff newsletter which you can find on their site.

Enjoy L.A. - Eat Out More Often! La Cabana since 1963


La Cabana in Venice is a lively spot for dining on mexican food (and handmade tortillas) or (with 18 varieties of margaritas) drinking your dinner. Thanks to a profile on Food Network's 'The Secret Life of Take Out Food' I also found out that you could save a few bucks by ordering takeout instead of dining in. Give it a whirl if you're ever in Venice at feeding time, they are open daily from 11am to 3am.
